Description

Most workplaces have chemicals on site which can range from something as basic as dishwashing detergent or something as toxic as hydrogen sulfide.

The health impact from exposure to chemicals can vary from symptoms visible after years of exposure, to instant severe impact.

Chemicals are a major part of our everyday life at home and at work. Examples of chemicals used at home include gasoline, paints, fertilizers and bleach amongst many others. However, at work it could be chemicals such as laboratory chemicals, fuels, paint, office copier chemicals, lubricants, corrosives etc.

The chemicals can all be potentially dangerous, but don’t have to be harmful if handled, stored and disposed of safely. The legal requirements when using chemicals are outlined in the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations 2002.

Our chemical safety toolbox talk helps keep employees safe and reduce health and safety issues in workplaces where chemicals are used frequently or on occasions. If you are considering our chemical safety toolbox talk, our COSHH Toolbox Talk might be of interest to you as well.
